Equine Academy 2024: Championing Equine Welfare and Education in the Caribbean

Rio Grande, Puerto Rico: Caribbean Thoroughbred Aftercare (CTA) has made significant strides in promoting equine welfare and management through community education this year. On February 6th and 7th, CTA launched its first Equine Academy course, covering essential topics such as:

  • Farm Management
  • Grooming
  • Veterinary Care
  • Training
  • Dentistry
  • Hoof Care

The course was met with enthusiasm, providing students with a weekend filled with learning, interaction, and engaging discussions about horses. The overwhelming interest and support from both participants and the dedicated equine professional instructors, who are all passionate and highly knowledgeable about horse care, were evident. eqiune academy 1

Kelley Stobie, Executive Director of Equine Academy 2024, shared her thoughts on the success of the program: "Our goal is to enhance the understanding and implementation of best practices in equine care across the Caribbean. The positive response to our initial courses has been incredibly encouraging. We are committed to continuing these educational efforts throughout the year, ensuring that every session is as impactful and successful as our February launch."

equine academy 2Following the success of the February course, CTA has held additional sessions in March, April, and May, and and upcoming one in June, all of which have garnered great success. Equine Academy 2024 remains dedicated to fostering a knowledgeable community that prioritizes the welfare and management of horses.
