Caribbean Thoroughbred Aftercare Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Landmark Fundraising Event

The Caribbean's only TAA-accredited organization invites the community to join an evening of hope, second chances, and celebration

RIO GRANDE, PUERTO RICO — September 29, 2026 — Caribbean Thoroughbred Aftercare (CTA), the only Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA)-accredited organization in the Caribbean, announces its 10th Anniversary Event — Ten Years of Hope & Second Chances — to be held on Saturday, November 7th, 2026, from 1:30 PM to 7:00 PM at Hacienda Cadenas, Carolina, Puerto Rico.

Founded in 2016, CTA has rescued, rehabilitated, retrained, and provided sanctuary to over 340 horses of all breeds across Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. CTA was born out of an urgent need for abandoned, over-raced horses and rising euthanasia rates in the Caribbean racing industry. Faced with that reality, founders Kelley Stobie and Shelley Blodgett knew something had to be done to protect these animals, and Caribbean Thoroughbred Aftercare was created with the mission of being the voice and refuge that the horses so desperately needed.

A Special Afternoon for an Extraordinary Cause

Guests will enjoy an afternoon that includes dinner, music, photo ops with CTA's horses, a donation wall, activities, surprises, and drinks. A live auction featuring incredible items will also take place, with all proceeds going directly toward the care of equines in CTA's program.

CTA's online auction opens October 7th, 2026, and runs for 30 days at: givebutter.com/decadeofsecondchances

Sponsorship & Ticket Opportunities

Individual tickets are $150 per person, with corporate tables available for businesses and sponsors. CTA offers sponsorship tiers ranging from $1,000 to $50,000, each with exclusive recognition benefits.

CTA is a nonprofit organization registered with the IRS as a 501(c)(3) and with the Puerto Rico Department of State under Law 1101. EIN: 66-0869307. All donations are tax-deductible.

About Caribbean Thoroughbred Aftercare

Since 2016, CTA has operated from its 15-acre farm in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, serving as the essential bridge between racing and retirement for horses across the Caribbean. CTA has received national recognition including the Eclipse Award and the AAEP A. Gary Lavin Equine Welfare Award for its outstanding work in equine welfare.
